Meet Ariel
Ariel Stern, LPC
“Therapy is for everyone. Really. I believe that if we treated going to therapy the same way we treat going to a primary care doctor for a check-up the world would be a happier more well-adjusted place.”
For 16 years, I’ve supported individuals and couples in therapy. As a certified Gottman therapist, I primarily work with couples. I’m also passionate about working with young parents, women experiencing postpartum depression, and people struggling with addiction and substance abuse as well as general anxiety, depression and trauma. Additionally, I provide career counseling to those struggling with professional identity, job transition and/or new graduates starting their careers.
I believe that these are the life experiences where we frequently find ourselves feeling isolated. Being able to give you a space that offers candor, humor and a normalizing approach to your challenges is why I do this work.
The techniques I use are informed by three years of specialized post-graduate training in ESFT – the catchy acronym for Eco-systemic Structural Family Therapy. Although it has a complicated name, this therapeutic approach can be simply explained.
Often, the issues underlying most family problems remain relatively constant and follow recognizable patterns. Once we have identified what they are, I will be able to help your family break negative patterns, enhance your family strengths, and rebuild relationships.
