Find Ways to Connect

You might physically be around each other more frequently after the arrival of your little one, but finding ways to connect can be challenging. You’re keeping a little human alive and staying in tune with their needs might take up all your bandwidth. So, you need to make a very conscious choice to find ways to connect with your partner in ways other than talking about the babies latest bowel movement.

Here are some ideas:

1. Ask at least one open ended question a night - “what are your dreams?” Or “if we could go anywhere tomorrow where would you want to go?”.

2 After baby goes to bed put cell phones down for 30 minutes and cuddle.

3. Help each other fold laundry while having a stress reducing convo ( read post 1).

4. Remember to bring tiny gifts for your partner. My husband brings me starburst every now and then and it makes my day!

5. If you can’t get a sitter have a date night inside. Buy a new board game or build a living room fort! Light candles or cook dinner.

6. Be an angel and let your dear partner sleep! Seriously. No one will ever love you more than they love you when you say “hey babe! I’ve got this! Go to sleep!”.What are your other ideas for staying connected!?
