Svea Wentzler, MA

“Our work will help serve in bringing more agency to your life and relationships.”

Here is how I can support you: Through our conversation, drawing on my training and asking pertinent questions, we will work together to identify areas where you feel stuck and develop manageable steps towards relieving your symptoms. Our work will help serve in bringing more agency to your life and relationships.

I help clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, feelings of being stuck/lack of motivation, existential questions of life, the impact of feeling othered or misunderstood. My focus is on helping individuals recognize and effectively communicate their needs to initiate positive change in their lives. Additionally, I address and understand emotions from a place of curiosity and empowerment. My approach is casual and I often recommend supplementary resources such as books or podcasts to further support clients.

I operate from a values-based perspective rather than a moralistic one, and apply a compassionate and inquisitive outlook informed by my education and professional training. I graduated from an LGBTQ-affirming psychology graduate program in Los Angeles and completed an internship in narrative therapy at a community practice. Over the past 5 years of practice on the east coast, I have honed my skills in both individual and relationship therapy. I work with adult individuals who are dating or not, couples that are monogamous, married and open relationships, ethically non monogamous relationships, folks who identify as polyamorous, people who are dating, people who are A romantic, folks who are A sexual and clients not interested in long term relationships but are focusing on the relationship to themselves, their work, friends or community.

Who I work with:

The people I work with are, and will always be, the experts on their lives and experience. They have tried their hardest to figure out how to fight the Problem, before they ask for more support. I believe the Problem is the Problem, the client is never the problem.
