Many clinicians see clients in various stages of addiction and recovery. Unfortunately, the majority of these clients are seen outside of the contexts of their homes, families, work environments and communities.
As a substance abuse counselor, I have seen the significant benefits of a partner or spouse who is educated about and willing to engage in their loved ones recovery process.
This workshop will provide clinicians with the skills and tools to understand the social/emotional impact of addiction on the sober partner, how to conduct couple’s sessions in which the couple can feel like a team in their desire to address substance abuse issues as well as practical skills and tools clinicians can teach their clients to maintain healthy relationships while managing the significant impact addiction can have on a person and their family.
