Meet Catherine
As a practice, we value letting you know us a little bit, since we are going to get to know so much about you! We sat down with Catherine to learn more about her journey towards becoming a therapist! Here is some of what she shared:
Why did you become a therapist?
"I decided to become a therapist after exploring ways I could use my passion to help people with their problems. I was a peer mentor while in college and found that helping people express themselves helped others and made me happy"
Tell us a little about your journey to becoming a therapist?
"My journey to being a therapist has been challenging but worthwhile! I have had the privilege of finding my place as a therapist with the support of my family, my husband, and my cats".
Who have you worked with in the past?
"I have the experience of working with children as young as 3 to adults as old as 75 at nonprofit agencies in the Philadelphia area prior to my time at A Better Life Therapy".
What do you believe is "the power of therapy?
The power of therapy is seeing someone open up to a loved one and the other person supporting the expression of love knowing that it was a difficult thing to do.
Who do you work with?
"As a therapist, I work with a diverse group of folks from different backgrounds and with different stories. Presently, I’m mostly working with couples and families with children of varying ages."
Why are you passionate about therapy?
"I am passionate about therapy because I’ve seen and experienced the role that unconditional support and knowing that you aren’t your struggles can have on everyone"
What does therapy give people?
"Therapy gives people the opportunity to learn more about themselves and teaches them how to utilize relationships as a source of strength and joy"
What do you like to do in your spare time?
"In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two cats (Moby and Mabel). Outside of therapy, I am passionate about animal rights and interfaith relationships between the diverse populations in the Philadelphia area. I love to crochet and play board games or doing jigsaw puzzles with my husband and sister!"
