Anxiety is normal, and so difficult to navigate! This online workshop is geared towards equipping you with the information and support you need to help your child have the best return to school possible.
About this event:
For many families, this back to school season is unlike any other. Over the past two academic years, students have been asked to transition to new ways of learning and living again and again. If you or your child feels nervous about the upcoming school year, you are not alone!
It can be really difficult to figure out how to offer support in the face of continued uncertainty. Unfortunately, many approaches we think of as helpful can actually increase anxiety and dependence. We will focus on concrete strategies and language you can use to connect with your child and help them build self-awareness, strength, and skills to handle strong emotions.
What to expect:
-Common (and sometimes surprising) signs that indicate your child may need your support
-Strategies for communicating with your child and example scripts
-Ideas for anticipating challenges and building resilience
-Coping strategies for you and your child and suggestions for implementation
-Differentiated handouts with key ideas for parents of young children, tweens, and teens
