What made you become a therapist?
From as young as I can remember I wanted to be a therapist. My mom and my grandmother are also therapists and I had a general idea of how rewarding this work can be. Instead of playing school or house as a young child I was playing therapist and client!
What are your specialties?
I have an eclectic practice as I have had the honor of working with a range of ages, from young children to older adults. However, these days I would say I have mainly been focused on young adults from adolescents through 50 years of age. I’ve also had the opportunity of working with people struggling with all kinds of difficulties from coming of age adjustments, relationship difficulties, to trauma, to depression and anxiety.
Why do you believe therapy can help?
Having a safe space where one can listen without judgement and help you work through areas you are stuck can be extremely trans-formative. I’ve seen it happen with my clients and I’ve experienced it for myself as well.
What are some books that inspire you?
Some of my favorite books include:
Wherever You Go, There You Are By: Jon Kabbat-Zinn
The Dance of Anger By: Harriet Lerner
On Becoming A Person by: Carl Rogers
What are your favorite self care activities?
Working out, continuing my education, vacations, trying new restaurants, happy hour, mindfulness, and spending time with family and friends.
