Meet Leah
Leah Sinderbrand, MFT
“I see therapy as a space to reconstruct your sense of self, the role you want to play in your life, and develop insight, along with skills to heal and grow.”
I see therapy as a space to shape and connect with yourself. My training in systemic therapy allows me to think about the individual as a part of a larger system that influences the ‘Self,’ and how you show up in relationships. I am interested in uncovering your individual needs and goals that help you navigate relationships with family, chosen family, partners, friends, and community. I provide a nonjudgmental environment to make connections between the past and present and co-create a path for a future that feels hopeful and attainable. My work is focused on finding what motivates you to process deeper emotions and commit to trying different solutions to make changes in your life.
In each stage of life there are transitions that are often too challenging to carry alone. I see therapy as a space to reconstruct your sense of self, the role you want to play in your life, and develop insight, along with skills to heal and grow. I am interested in exploring the ways that birth order, family of origin, gender, race, sexuality, and other identities impact the way you move through the world.
Who I work with:
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, siblings, and adolescents. I have worked with clients presenting with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, sexuality, addiction, grief, acceptance, and various relationship dynamics. My theoretical orientation is rooted in a variety of culturally sensitive and relational psychotherapies with a special interest in Internal Family Systems (parts work). I am sex and kink positive and LGBTQIA+ affirming. My style is relational, warm, friendly, and straightforward. I welcome humor in the therapy room and see its value as a tool for coping.
While there are many approaches to therapy that can feel overwhelming in searching for a therapist, I take comfort in the idea that we are seeking to accomplish a set of common goals: to build real relationships, seek insight, make changes, and help you foster compassion and empathy for yourself and others.
