Have you noticed your body experiencing uncomfortable physical sensations when you’re experiencig emotion? Is it often hard to put into words the experience you’re having?
Do you find yourself feeling anxious and overly analytical, unable to calm your body and mind? When you’re sad do you choke back tears? Tense up your body? Perhaps, you’ve even learned to numb yourself emotionally and physically to avoid the often uncomfortable experience of emotions.
We know that our emotions live in our bodies. In fact, the physical (somatic) responses we have to emotions are often the thing that we dislike the most! Stomach aches, racing heart, chest tightness, etc.
