Seeking therapy is a major decision, and it can be daunting to take that initial step. My intention from your first session to the last is to create a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard and understood. I work collaboratively with all of my clients to identify shared goals and work towards achieving them in whatever way best fits for you.
As a marriage and family therapist I have worked with couples, families, and individuals dealing with a range of issues. I have helped clients struggling with the pain and shock of infidelity, with the unwanted emotions of grief, anxiety, and depression, and have helped clients navigate the chaos that comes with major life transitions. I have also been successful in supporting couples that feel their relationship has a strong base and simply want to build on that foundation. I look to help my clients identify patterns in their relationships and behaviors and explore opportunities to replace maladaptive sequences with more positive alternatives.
When working with couples, I place a high priority on being a neutral but supportive third party. I recognize that no two relationships are the same, but have found Gottman Method Couples Therapy to be the most helpful approach towards working with couples no matter what issues they want to address. I am currently under supervision of a certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist and have completed the Level 3 Practicum Training. I also specialize in working with blended families in all stages of the process of combining their families, as well as individuals or families living with a severe or life-threatening food allergy.
I understand that communication and trust are central to a healthy relationship and can break down for a variety of reasons. I collaborate with clients who want to deepen their understanding of themselves and strengthen their relationships with those closest to them. I intend to give you the tools to strengthen your self-esteem and live confidently as the person you want to be. Let’s work together to foster love and support in your relationships, strengthen your emotional awareness, and achieve happiness in whatever way you define it.
